MAKE IT MONDAY: March Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card

This month's Paper Pumpkin kit from Stampin' Up! makes the cutest easter treat bags and note cards!  But, I didn't have a need for all the treat bags or note cards, so I decided to make a few different cards from some of the materials in the kit.

I got the idea for using the muslin from the bag from a card Suzanne from SuNN Stampin.com shared on YouTube...Thanks, Suzanne! Check out her great video here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=926Y3WCRuiw.

You can read how I put this together below...

NOTE:  If you want to try your hand at making this card, but you're not a current Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can subscribe using one of the links below.  Once you're a subscriber, then you simply order a Bunny Buddies Refill Kit from the Stampin Up Store (you can find it here). Unfortunately, you have to be a subscriber to Paper Pumpkin in order to get the refills.  Your subscription will start the month after you subscribe, as long as it's by the 10th of the month.  Otherwise, it will start the next month.

Materials from March Paper Pumpkin Kit:

Middle Layer:  Muslin bag; cut into a square approx. 3 ½” x 3 ½”
Top Layer:  Peekaboo Peach design card – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
Sentiment Square:  Use the Very Vanilla portion of the Peekaboo Peach Card
Two small bunny ear ‘coverings’
Embellishment:  Dapper Denim baker’s twine
Stamp Set: March Paper Pumpkin

Other Supplies:

Card Base: Peekaboo Peach – 8 ½”  x 5 ½”  (scored @ 4 ¼”)
First Layer:  Dapper Denim – 4” x 4”
Inside Card Layer: Very Vanilla – 5 ¼” x 4”
Ink:  Dapper Denim, Peekaboo Peach
Dies: Stitched Framelits
Misc:  3D Foam adhesive, Snail adhesive, glue dot, tear and tape adhesive

Instructions:

1.  Cut the bunny bag into a square, and then ravel the edges by pulling individual threads from all four sides.  Pull as many threads as you’d like to get it looking as ‘rough’ as you want; I pulled about six or eight from each side.

2.  Use four strips of tear and tape adhesive to attach the muslin square to the dapper denim square; this extra-strong adhesive should keep the material from coming lose. Use tear and tape adhesive to attach the Peekaboo Peach designer paper square on top of the muslin.

3.  Line up the smallest square from the Stitched Framelits dies in the corner of the Very Vanilla portion of the Paper Pumpkin Card and run it through your die-cutting/embossing machine (Big Shot, Cuttlebug, etc.).  Using Dapper Denim ink, stamp the sentiment ‘Happy Easter’ and a bunny face onto the stitched square.  Stamp toward the bottom to leave room for the ears.

4.  Using the left over very vanilla sections of the card, stamp two bunny ears and cut them out by hand.  If any of the very vanilla shows after cutting, you can always dab the edge into the inkpad to cover it.

5.  Add three rows of the dapper denim baker’s twine toward the bottom of the layer assembly; attach it to the back of the cardstock with tear and tape adhesive.  To get the kinks out, run the twine through a baby wipe to slightly moisten and pull taut.  Attach the entire layer assembly to the card base using snail adhesive.

6. Use dimensionals to pop-up the sentiment/bunny face just above the baker’s twine.  Attach the bunny ears using tear and tape adhesive.

7.  Finally, tie a small bow from a piece of the baker’s twine and attach it to the rows of twine with a glue dot.

8.  For the Inside, use the dapper denim and peekaboo peach ink to stamp a row of eggs along the bottom of the Very Vanilla cardstock.  I cut the egg stamp apart so I could make each egg a different color.  If you prefer to leave it intact, you can mask off the eggs you don’t want to ink or just use the same ink for all three.  Using snail adhesive, attach the stamped cardstock to the card base.

So there you have the finished card.  You can use the other note cards in the kit to make similar cards with the Sweet Sugarplum color scheme as well.  Hope you enjoy this take on Paper Pumpkin!
